THE OLD BLACKSMITH’S COTTAGE - Luxury vacation rentals - is a piece of Niagara-on-the-Lake history right in the historic centre of Niagara-on-the-Lake , but situated in a peaceful tree-lined side street behind the Prince of Wales Hotel. You are actually right in the historic preservation area of Niagara and everything is within easy strolling distance. From the outside, the cottage is perfectly preserved. Step in and the transformation is to a spacious lounge with gas log fire and full HDTV with DVD and CD players, original 19^th century water-colours and contemporary Italian art, central heating and air conditioning, luxury bathroom with heated slate floor and frameless shower screen, restored antique claw-foot bath, three bedrooms- each with a different theme and a polished travertine and solid pine-floored kitchen-dining room filled with light and modern appliances.

Winter is also a fantastic time to visit – Niagara Falls in January

Summer is warm and you can take a horse –drawn cab nearby.

Accommodation:

The intimate Victorian bed-room has a four-poster bed with built-in ward-robe/closet. Decorated with vine-leaf charcoal/ivory printed wallpaper below the dado rail and pale apple-green walls above. 

The Japanese Room has a deep lilac end-wall with pure white windows and white elsewhere to set off Hiroshige prints and mid-blue fitted carpet in this warm, peaceful room. The bed is conventional and not with tatami mats. (Much as we like tatami!)

The European bedroom is filled with light and has double-glazed French windows opening out onto steps to the rear. Pale slate-blue and grey silk curtains are triple interlined for darkness at night and the wide Scandinavian bed is firm with a high quality magic-foam mattress for excellent rest and sleep.
