Akumal is a small, beachside community on Mexico's Caribbean coast. It is about 95 km south of Cancun, between the cities of Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
Akumal is renowned for its beautiful white sand beaches, scuba diving and snorkeling in the main Akumal Bay, neighbouring Half Moon Bay and nearby Yalku lagoon.
In Akumal, there are restaurants, dive shops, small gift stores and small grocery stores. There are villas, low-rise condo buildings and a couple of small hotels.
Akumal means "place of the turtles" in the Maya language, and one sees huge sea turtles coming ashore to lay eggs during nesting season, then hundreds of newly hatched young some two months later.
Condominiums are all beachfront and have ocean views.
Our two-bedroom units are 1200 sq. ft. and come equipped with all linens, towels, dishes, and full kitchens.
All condos have a kingsize bed in the main bedroom. In some, the second bedroom also has a kingsize bed, and in others there are two double beds.
The main bedroom has an en suite bathroom, and there is a second bathroom between the two bedrooms.
Balconies overlook the beach, and some are big enough for two hammocks. They are almost like an extra room....
