Art Appreciation Afternoon
Sunday 19th April 2009 - 3pm & Tea 4pm - Old Forge
Shirley vanDusen will give an illustrated lecture on "The Scottish Portraits of Allan Ramsay"; Shirley is a well-known Ottawa artist with many oils and water-colours to her name.
There will be a light tea; a $5 donation is requested.
Sidney Hicks, a Society member and a "Friend of the National Gallery", will give an illustrated presentation of Scottish landscape oil paintings, 1770-1890. Artists include Henry Raeburn, & Alexander Naismith; the presentation will include anecdotes and short literary remarks pertaining to the subjects - lochs, rivers, mountains, streams, towns and harbours. Some impressionist paintings of sea and boats will be discussed.
The afternoon should conclude by
