Judi,There are two placenames relating to Blacknest near Thornhill: Blacknest House, about 1 mile east of Thornhill; and Blacknest Cottages, about 1 mile east southeast of Thornhill. Go to (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/) , type in Thornhill as the GB placename, then click on the East arrow once. Blacknest House is shown on the online version as "Blacknest Ho." Blacknest Cottages is not marked but the building outline is there. It's the small square just below and to the right of the golf course flag. My Pathfinder Map 505 clearly shows both. Then go to(http://www.old-maps.co.uk) , type inThornhill and navigate east and you'll find both of them.
For
Glengenny, it is about 3 miles southeast of Sanquhar, not far of the south side of the A76. Go to (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/), type in Sanquhar as the GB placename, then click on the east arrow 5 times, then the south arrow 3 times. On my Pathfinder 494 map, it is named Nether Glengenny; the online map just says Glengenny. There is also Glengenny Muir, Glengenny Burn, Glengenny Hill, and Glengenny Wood nearby. You'll find this farm in old-maps also. Type in Sanquhar as the place name, then navigate east (about 12 m), then south (about 13 m).
