Animation: Camera test

The image you see at left was a still-camera test I shot with my Olympus FE-210, mounted on a teeny-tiny dollar store tripod.

I wanted to see how well it photographed small objects against a dark backdrop (in this case, a heavy-duty garbage bag.)

The model was sculpted out of a material called "Glorp", essentially a combination of blue mystery-gel and tiny granules of what look like styrofoam. It's a very photogenic material, as it turns out - doesn't look anywhere near as good in reality! Sadly it's just not a good sculpting material for stop-motion; I didn't ask it to take a bow during shooting, that's just how quickly the material loses it shape!

...Maybe there's hope for it as a prop.

While you're here, take a look at that widget to the right - this guy is fundraising for his Calvin & Hobbes documentary!

...right after you adopt a student [ahem], go ahead and give that man a dollar!
